• Promotion of our cultural heritage.
• Conservation of our corporate natural resources.
OUR HERITAGE
St. George Island has a long history dating back to its discovery in 1786. Aleuts from the Aleutian Islands were brought to the island as slaves to harvest the highly valued fur seals. The remote location of the island made residents resourceful, self-reliant, and hardworking — qualities their ancestors still possess today.
